Wireless madness

This is insane. Spent over 6 hrs yesterday night trying to get my home wifi working properly, and must say i failed yet. Common presumption, that if all the components are the same brand - no problems should appear, DOES NOT WORK FOR SMC! I hate this company pretty much at the moment.

Problem is, that 802.11B usb client [ SMC2662W_V3 ] doesn't quite work with new 802.11G (said to be 802.11B compatible) router [ SMC2804WBR_V2 ]. It connects, but downloads are slow and after some time it starts hanging. Interesting point is, that the least standard's compliant piece of wifi hw i have - 802.11B+ (22mbps proprietary extension) pcmcia card [ SMC2402W ] works like charm.

Technologies are evil :-(

Nice "wallpaper" right? Temporary workspace in the livingroom turned out to have some good points, like this great fir treetop i can stare at when not staring to the laptop screen.

It's time. We all know IE sucks (including the SP2 revision). After year of using MyIE2 (now Maxthon) as browser, I've finally switched to FireFox on both of my machines. It's fast, stable, lightweight, and with some extensions it can do quite everything you need from a browser.

Even faster searches

With Outlook 2003, searching e-mails in 2gb storage files became pretty fast. With Lookout plugin (guess what - M$ recently bought them, and it's still free! ;) ) you can get google kind of response for searches system wide (from the Outlook search).

Have got game i'm "allowed" to play on weekends (as it's non computer one) - this great mod of "Pexeso" memo game contains not exact pairs of images, but one piece is detail of the other in the pair. Is quite much harder than regular memo game and much more fun. Also NG photos used are really cool.

Saw "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", unconventional and "fresh-idea" movie after quite some time comming from Hollywood production (No, i don't find HellBoy nor The Chronicles of Riddick even close to be worth seeing). Proved me that Jim Carrey is really one of my favorite actors (did hit me with each of his "serious-note" movies). Also check "My Life Without Me" if interested in some more rather good stuff.
