XDA bits

So on the day we were off to holidays last week, my XDA broke down - the mic didn't work in a call, even tho in voice recorder it worked fine. As a last attempt to recover the device before i throw it in trash i decided to flash the OS/ROM again, in case the mic behaviour would be caused by some sw hook.

After dozen of ROM changes and few hours of panic with XDA flashed by totally unusable ROM which refused to be overwritten, the device is working again, so far the mic seems to be working in calls too, and i've got Pocket Nester - the NES emulator in ROM. That means besides supercool Worms World Party for PPC, I can carry old times game hits like Micromachines, Prince of Persia or Lemmings too ;). If only the PDA functions of PPC didn't suck so much! :( But that's different story.

Few interesting notes

There is excelent community around the XDA's - XDA Developers where you can read quite anything XDA/PocketPC related.

Also there is live ROM Kitchen service available, where you can easily assemble (cook :) ) custom ROM image (mine is PPC2002 from O2/UK with customisation for T-Mo/CZ and bunch of freeware tools burned in ROM to save RAM space).

If you manage to upgrade the device with ROM which can't be overwritten from PC (eg. some of the PPC2003 ROM's) , don't panic, format the SD card in your XDA, then use the XDA Tools to copy .nb1 of other ROM version you want to try, and then get the device to bootloader state (press reset while holding power button). It will flash the ROM despite what it said when trying to do so from computer.
